Dynamic Island Aware Design

The Dynamic Island sits at the top center of the iPhone 15 display, approximately 126 x 37 pixels at native resolution. For most uses, it appears as a small black pill that integrates with the system but slightly expands to show widgets, music controls, timers, etc.

Wallpaper considerations:

- The Dynamic Island is always visible at minimum size during normal use, so the top center 126 x 37 px area is functionally hidden by the system UI. - During active sessions (timer, music, call), the island expands and partially covers an area up to 122 x 374 px wide. - The bottom of the lock screen has the home indicator and (during media playback) media controls.

Design rule: keep important content out of the top center 130 x 50 px and out of the bottom center 50 px. The rest of the canvas is yours.

iPhone 15 vs 15 Pro: Same Wallpaper Size

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro use identical 1179 x 2556 native resolution despite the Pro having ProMotion (120Hz) display. The display panel itself is the same physical resolution; the Pro just refreshes at higher rates.

A wallpaper sized for iPhone 15 works perfectly on iPhone 15 Pro. The reverse is also true. The only difference users notice is the smoother scrolling on the Pro - the static wallpaper image is identical.

This sharing also applies to iPhone 14 Pro (which introduced the Dynamic Island and 1179 x 2556 resolution). If you used a wallpaper on iPhone 14 Pro, it works on iPhone 15 with no resize needed.
