Resize Image for WhatsApp DP (Full Size, No Crop)

Most photos are rectangles. WhatsApp wants a square, then it shows that square as a circle. So a normal portrait of you loses the top of your head and your shoulders before it even becomes a circle. That is why 'full dp' and 'no crop' get searched so much, people want their whole photo to show.

There are two ways to get a full DP. Crop tightly so the important part survives the square-and-circle, or pad the photo out to a square (adding a colour or blurred background on the sides) so the entire original image fits inside. This tool squares the canvas to 1080 x 1080 so you can do either before WhatsApp gets its hands on it.

It helps to picture the two crops happening in order. First WhatsApp takes a square out of the centre of your image. Then it lays a circular mask over that square, which removes the four corners. So the safe area is not the full square, it is the circle inside it.

The practical rule: keep faces, text, and logos inside the centre. The outer edges and especially the corners are decoration that may never be seen. Upload at 1080 x 1080 for sharpness, use JPG for photos and PNG for logos, and keep the file modest since WhatsApp re-compresses everything anyway.
